Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to give a basic overview of the history of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with an emphasis on understanding the connections, especially of those which are still reflected in the historical "memory" of these nations.

6. Wars with Napoleon; "Spring of Nations"; Austro-Prussian rivalry
7. The unification of Germany; Austria-Hungary establishment
8. The causes and consequences of the WWI; the Weimar Republic and Austria between the wars
9. The Third Reich; post-war changes and denazification
