Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the technology of automatic speech recognition systems in terms of human-machine communication. Particular attention will be paid to the role of the so-called shadow speaker in the process of automatic speech recognition. Students will have the opportunity to actively try out the role of a shadow speaker and further develop the skills of a shadow speaker for use in automatic speech recognition systems. The core of the course is mainly active independent work of students.

Content
|
The process of making speech by man, phonetics. Principle of automatic speech recognition system, acoustic model, language model. Possibilities of using automatic speech recognition systems. Disadvantages of speech recognition systems. The role of the shadow speaker in automatic speech recognition systems. Shadow speaker training system. Basics of using automatic speech recognition systems. Shadow speaker skills training. Working with a simulator for training a shadow speaker. Active training of shadow speaker skills - simultaneous persuasion of assigned recordings, simplification of dialogue while maintaining its meaning, free persuasion of television programs. Developing other (non-speech) abilities of the shadow speaker - supplementing punctuation, marking the change of the speaker, expanding the dictionary, correction of incorrectly recognized text.
