This course gives a systematic account of the major topics in pattern recognition and machine learning.

Solution of machine learning and pattern recognition problems on PC. Understanding of basic principles of machine learning and pattern recognition methods.

Content
|
Introduction to pattern recognition and machine learning systems. Syntactic and feature-based classifiers. Classifiers based on Bayes decision theory, discriminant function. Nearest and k-nearest neighbour classifier. Linear classifiers. Perceptron. Neural networks. Unsupervised learning - cluster analysis. Decision trees. Examples of pattern recognition systems.
