Course objectives:
|
The course aims at introducing the students to descriptive statistics, graphical presentation of statistical data, to apply statistical analysis using statistical software (for example: Excel, Matlab, R, Mathematica or Statistica). The subject is also dedicated to basic principles of simulating mathematical stochastics systems.
|
Requirements on student
|
Students have to solve and defend exercises.
|
Content
|
1. Survey statistical software.
2. Basic descriptive statistics in Excel.
3. Graphical presentation of statistical data.
4. List of probability distributions
5. Normality tests.
6. Point estimation and interval estimation is the use of sample data to calculate an interval of possible (or probable) values of an unknown population parameter.
7. Statistical hypothesis testing.
8. Presenting and summarising the multivariate data.
