Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamentals of random processes, in particular Markov chains with discrete and continuous time, birth and death processes, application to the theory of queues and renewal processes. Students will learn how to use different random number generators, how to analyze random data and use Monte Carlo (MC) methods and their modifications, for example Multi Level Monte Carlo (MLMC), Quasi Monte Carlo (QMC), Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), perfect simulations, their properties and applications.
