Course objectives:

To introduce students into problems of
- Newtonian fluids modelling,
- nonlinear modelling
- non-Newtonian fluids modelling
- experimental measurements of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids
Students apply knowledge acquired in the modelling of fluid flow.

Requirements on student
|
Course recognition requirements:
Working up and submitting the semestral project of an adequate level.
Credit obtained in previous years of study is not accepted.
Exam requirements:
Active knowledge of lectures and its application to the solution of chosen fluids flow problems.

1. Fluids of the Newtonian fluid.
2. Non-Newton´s fluids, basic characteristic, classification.
3. Maxwell´s model of a non-Newtonian fluid.
4. Relative deformation tensors.
5. Simple fluid and constitutive relations.
6. Function of shear and normal stress, isotropic functions.
7. Objective tensors, velocity form of the constitutive relations.
8. Viscometric flow of ideal fluid.
9. Couett flow of fluid.
10. Modelling of non-Newtonian fluids.
11. Experimental measurements of Newtonian fluids.
12. Viscosity measurements of non-Newtonian fluids.
13. Experimental measurements of non-Newtonian fluids.
