Course objectives:

Verification of student's abilities to work independently in the area of the design, implementation, controlling and management of modern buildings, in particular:
- to design and select a suitable solution of the bulding and its structures using modern materials and technologies,
- to use computer technology and professional software to design and optimize selected solutions,
- to perceive the usefulness and flexibility of the building and optimize its investment and operating costs as well as internal environment in view of possible future modifications,
- to present proposed solutions and work results.

Requirements on student
|
Diploma thesis defense takes the form of an oral presentation in front of the commission. The evaluation takes into account the quality of the diploma work, the level of presentation of the thesis, the level of the student's responses to the comments of the opponent and the supervisor of the thesis and in the general discussion. The evaluation also takes into account the evaluation of the thesis by the opponent and the supervisor of the thesis.
It is required in particular:
- systematicness and independence in the creation of the thesis,
- mastering specific partial tasks,
- ability to solve given problem comprehensively,
- ability to present diploma work in graphic, written and oral form.

Content
|
When preparing for the defense of the diploma thesis, the student is based on the elaborated assignment of the topic of the diploma thesis and from the expert opinion of the opponent and the evaluation of the diploma thesis by the supervisor. It is also his duty to comment on any comments made by the opponent and the supervisor of the diploma thesis and to provide additional explanations to solve the problem during the discussion. The defense of diploma thesis takes about 30 minutes. The content of the defense is the presentation of the thesis, comment to the reviewer's opinion and evaluation of the thesis supervisor, responses to their questions and the answering additional questions of the committee members. The defense can only take place if the student has met all the requirement set by the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
Student must complete all prerequisites required by the study plan of the Civil Engineering - Modern Buildings study program and all conditions specified by the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The defense can only be done if the student has submitted the thesis at the required quality level and within the given deadline. |
