Course objectives:
|
Student is met with solving of
- the basic and more complicated statically determined and undetermined problems of tension, bending and torsion,
- problem of the plane and tri-axial state of stress,
- problem of the combined loading,
- problem of the second moments of areas.
Student is apprised of the Castiglian theorem and its applications to bars problem.
|
Requirements on student
|
Credit requirements: Participation at least 75%. In the case of less participation appropriate knowledge must be proved by a summary test.
|
Content
|
1. The problems of tension: the simple statically determined cases - investigation of stress and deformation of bars with influence of forces and temperature, dimensional.
2. The problems of tension: more complicated statically determined cases - the conic bar, investigation of stress and displacement of bars with the variable sections, superimposing principle.
3. The problems of tension: statically undetermined cases, the Castiglian theorem and its applications to bars.
4. The problems of second moments of areas: investigation of the centre-of-gravity position, the parallel-axis theorem for moments of inertia, the sector of a circle.
5. The problems of second moments of areas: the Mohr-Culmann circle, the principal inertia axis.
6. Beam bending: investigation of internal forces, the maximum of flexural moment, dimensional.
7. Beam deflections: application of the differential equation of the elastic curve and the Castiglian theorem.
8. Beam deflections: Mohr's method, statically undetermined cases.
9. Torsional loading of shafts: the torsional shearing stress and displacement, shafts with the constant and the variable sections, statically undetermined cases.
10. Plane and triaxial state of stress: investigation of the principal stresses, Mohr's circle and its application.
11. Combined loading: theories of failure for static loading and their application.
12. Summery test.
13. Credits for education.
