Course objectives:
|
Itroduction into limited states problems. Understanding material fatigue. Knowing loading treatment. Fatigue life estimating. Understanding effect to fatigue. Understanding creep.

Credit requirements: taking part in industrial visit, course project. Examination: knowledge corresponding the course

Content
|
1.Theory of limited states, examples, classification, review. Fatigue, creep.
2.Fatigue - basic terms, historical review. Construction and technological factors effecting fatigue.
3.Dynamic loading, material properties under dynamic loading. Hysteresis loop, monotonous and cyclic stress-strain curves.
4.S-N curve, fatigue limit, fatigue regions, stress mean value effect, Smith`s and Haigh`s diagrams.
5.Operational loading, classification, correlation analysis processing, characteristic parameters processing, rain-flow method. Loading simulation.
6.Fatigue computation. Conception
- safe life
- fail safe
- damage tolerance
Limited state criterion: full life, crack initiation, crack growth
Conception NSA, LESA, LPSA, FMA
7.Unlimited fatigue life calculation, examples, course project.
8.Fatigue damage cummulation hypotheses. High-cycle fatigue, S-N curves, low-cycle fatigue Manson-Cofin curves.
9.Multiaxial fatigue - basic principles. FEM results for fatigue calculation. SW ror fatigue calculation - MSC.Fatigue, FEMFAT, nCode, Fatigue Calculator. Course project.
10.Experimental validation of fatigue calculations - material, component, structure level.
11.Industrial visit - dynamic testing laboratory.
12.Creep life calculation. Stress relaxation.
13.Fatigue of composite materials. Course confirmation.
